The manner in which the Altantuya trial has stretched for over a year, the peculiar change of judge and prosecutors, the even more peculiar acquital of Baginda and the failure of the AG to appeal Baginda's acquital all suggest that the rogue elements still have the upper hand.
Don't forget we now have a CJ whose appointment was manipulated by UMNO over a year ago and the CJ who already played loose with moral issues in his marriage has now admitted to bribing court officials. I wonder what our so-called Rulers were thinking about when they consented to his appointment. Who were they protecting?
No, we have a long way to go before we have a truly independent judiciary which places emphasis on substances over form and justice over the letter of the law.

Not to me mention the the CJ (Syed Hamid) who just retired and is now calling for the syariah and civil courts to be merged. Sallleh Abbas made the same call circa 1987.
Which is a good indication how many wolves in sheep's clothing are out there with a clear Isalmic agenda in mind.
No,like RPK wrote, remove the top 500 MP's, policemen, judges and civil servants and then you'll see a marked downturn in corruption and a renaissance of sorts we can truly celebrate.

I think so too, DPP. There has to be a complete overhaul of our judiciary, executive and legislative bodies before we can't see much change.
We have lost confidence in our courts, much less our system of justice.
The commercial court system is not better than the criminal and civil courts. And it does not have prominent mention anywhere. A 'Newly Independent Judiciary' for cases like sacked judges and political influenced judgments is just sexy political icing over stale cake since nothing is similarly done to remove the ineptitude in the other courts. It is a joke. Our laws have not changed much since the British left.
