In conjunction with the United Nations Year of Reconciliation 2009, the Special Events Working Group of the Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia movement organised the Free & Equal Forum.
A significant topic addressed by the team was urban poverty.

This video asks why we see such rampant poverty when there appears to be so much wealth in the country. The answer is very simple. Those with the most aggressive, domineering egos tend to claw their way to the top of the economic heap and then cling on to their wealth for as many generations as possible. Money makes money, so it's much easier for somebody born into money to make even more money. Everybody else spends their entire life just trying to make ends meet, while some fall by the wayside because they have been emotionally traumatized at birth and do not have the energy to crawl out from their attitudinal ruts. The only way to resolve economic imbalances is for us to reassess the very foundations of what constitutes true wealth and to transcend and outgrow anthropocentric, hierarchical (feudal) sociopolitical power structures. The ones who will lead this revolution are those who have the benefit of the broadest and deepest perspectives - not those who are so oppressed they can only worry about where their next meal is coming from.
Well said, Antares - I agree with you completely.
We need to stop those who oppress and neglect the poor and remind everyone (from the government to the private sector) that regardless of academic levels, wealth, and social standing, everyone is born free and equal.
This is a worldwide problem and I could make a similar film here in Australia.
I don't believe that any social or political changes will solve this problem, although they can mitigate some of the worse effects. The real cause is more fundamental.
