Sadly, that poster is relevant to almost every country on this planet.

You stand up and make that difference.

Policing The Police

I had loads of ex-classmates from high school who went on to further their education in the United States. A few years later in the workplace, many of my co-workers had come back to Malaysia to work after graduating.

Many do stay on and work in the USA, but most of them did come back, though with moans and groans about the inefficiency of Kuala Lumpur, civil service, internet broadband and numerous other grouses.

Those who came back were the lucky ones, whether or not they know it.

They may be subject to Malaysia's village idiot brand of racism from the BN government and its stooges, especially the middle-class Chinese.

The Indians occasionally get looked down upon by the lower-class Chinese (those who think they are a bit superior than the rest, and who really, ought to be the victims of the BN government, instead of the middle-class). And a rather alarming number of under-class Indians have been killed by the police while under custody for "questioning", which, by the way, we should constantly be monitoring.

And the Malays? They're forced to conform to peer pressure and social convention on how they should dress, talk, and whom they should spend their time with.

Extremely annoying for those 3 main races - I did not go through the other races from East Malaysia because they generally fall under the Chinese and Malay categories - occasionally fatal, but for the most part, not stressful on a daily basis.

I have ranted against the BN government for this, and called Malaysia a third-world country for its miserably counter-productive mentality.

But nothing compares to the stress that African-Americans go through, living in the USA.

If you ever thought that the US was the bastion of liberty, please end that thought this very minute, for nothing is further from the truth.

Everyday, a black or brown person is harassed and abused, simply because of the colour of their skin.

In Malaysia, for the most part, the cops are able to tell what social class one comes from, based on how one dresses, talks and carries oneself.

But the white American cops seem devoid of this skill. For them, a black person - regardless of social class, income, profession - is considered a criminal. And they are treated as such.

If you were stopped once a year and questioned by the police, you would not display a defensive attitude towards being under suspicion. But if it happened almost everyday, you would grow weary and start exerting your rights.

A case in point is this black man in Minnesota who was asked to produce an ID for no reason at all.

He very clearly states that he was sitting on a public bench waiting for his children to come out of their daycare.

He was not causing any trouble at all, and was simply minding his own business.

There was absolutely no reason for him to be questioned.

I am unable to see his face because the camera does not point at him, only the female thug in uniform who is trying to interrogate him. Respectable-looking woman, but nevertheless a thug.

Based on his voice alone, I am able to tell that he is an educated man, and he has a clear purpose for being there: he is waiting for his children.

Despite explaining all this to the female officer, he is still asked to produce identification without being told what his offence was.

Take note here, that if he had indeed committed an infraction of the law, the police officer is duty-bound to inform him at this point.

She does not.

He is then accosted by a male police thug and subsequently arrested with unnecessary use of force.

Later on Facebook, the St Paul police department claim that the man was trespassing.

This is clearly bullshit as there were no signs put up, because the man verbally pointed that out and the female thug did not correct him.

Yet, the police department have brazenly posted "their side of the story" (a complete lie) and blamed a non-infraction on the victim.

At no point was the man trespassing. At no point in the video do I detect any disorderly conduct. The only obstruction of the legal process was committed by the thugs in uniform.

So why are the thugs in uniform doing this? What purpose does this serve?

You know what apartheid is? Segregation? It was alive and well until the 60s. What a depraved society.

What is even more repulsive is that the white majority does not want the black minority to have access to the same privileges that they do. So whenever a non-white person is found in a "white" area, the police are called to remove the "nuisance".

For that reason, submissively complying by producing one's identification is pointless, because they are never interested in who the black person is; otherwise, they would be observing his dress and mannerisms to assess if he was genuinely a threat.

It is all about bullying.

The United States of America is nation that is severely in decline. To be fair, it's the entire western civilisation that is nearing its end.

People have been too obsessively materialistic to concern themselves with how the police behave. And the police think they are above the law.

To call them law enforcement would be to describe them incorrectly, because they break the law, not enforce it.

A lot of Asians who want to live in the US think, "Ah well, that only happens to black people, it won't happen to me."

Think twice.

The former Chief Operating Officer of Napster, Milton Olin Jr, was killed when a police patrol car collided with the bicycle he was riding.

Olin was in his bicycle lane, but the police officer was using his computer while driving and got distracted. He ran over the man, killing him instantly.

However, he was not charged for his reckless behaviour because "prosecutors noted that a state law banning drivers from using wireless electronic devices while driving exempts police officers and other emergency professionals."

Right.

But check out what the police officer claimed at first: "Wood initially said that Olin had swerved from the bicycle lane on Mullholland Highway into the path of his patrol car."

That's a blatant lie because the district attorney's office concluded that “evidence examined in this investigation shows that this tragic collision occurred as a result of Deputy Wood crossing into the bicycle lane.”

The police officer could have stopped his car or parked at the side of the road to attend to his computer. But he didn't, and that resulted in the loss of an innocent man's life.

And the whole time, he was protected by the police department. The people who are supposed to serve and protect the citizens are protecting themselves. Woe betide those who go against them; more so if you're a black police officer.

The US of A is fast becoming a failed state. It is no longer a place to go to fulfill your dreams or raise your children.

We need to make Malaysia that place. We have awoken from our slumber and are more politically aware and sensitive.

It is now just about taking responsibility and bringing out the best in our fellow citizens, regardless of race, religion or creed.

Happy Merdeka!

"Too Outspoken"

He was passionate about fighting crime.

He was really keen to expose the alleged link between police and the underworld.

But his enthusiasm for exposing crime came with hazards.

He claimed harassment by several individuals and was followed by a group of men while having a drink with his friend at a popular coffee joint at the LCCT airport.

So he lodged a report at the Sepang police station.

No action was taken.

A few days later, he posted on his Twitter account that a hired gun was out to get him, saying: "A @PDRMsia cop told some syndicate fellow that he'll get them firearm & told them to fire few shots at my house to scare me/family!"

And then just eight hours later, he got shot in the abdomen while he was driving his car in a sleepy little town.

So this beggars the question: Why did he get shot?

This is the first time I have heard the concept of being "too outspoken". Things do not get resolved if you're not outspoken.

There is no point in being enthusiastic about anything if one is not outspoken. One is the consequence of the other -- and it is a good thing.

But evidently, not everyone seems to think so. Certainly not the former Inspector General of Police, who is obviously implicated in this matter:

Former police chief Tan Sri Musa Hassan considers Crime watchdog My Watch president R Sri Sanjeevan as too outspoken until a party decided to shoot him.

He said that he had advised Sanjeevan not to be outspoken and to solve several issues through the right channel.

“Sanjeevan is too outspoken, and I’ve advised him that if has any information, he needs to go to MACC. If he wants to cooperate with the police, do it properly. Cooperate with the police that he trust, give them (the information) for them to take action. But he decided to do his own monitoring. He was in Jempol to monitor and he received threats,” he told Astro AWANI.

Apparently, according to the former IGP, the "right" channel is the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption).

Obviously, that wasn't a safe channel for Teoh Beng Hock or that Customs Officer who suffered a similar fate.

If there is a connection between the police and the underworld, the last place to go, last people to trust, last course of action are the police. (The second last would be the underworld, of course -- in case you were wondering).

So it's natural that one would be suspicious of the incidents surrounding this shooting. Who is implicated?

All fingers point in the same direction.

Guess who's touchy.

Jangan Ketawa -- Moon And Pee

Apparently UMNO has taken great offence at the demonstrators' acts of stepping on the Prime Minister's face and mooning him and his wife.

Great offence to the extent of publishing the photos on Facebook!

KUALA LUMPUR: Police through Facebook has highlighted 11 photographs which were recorded at the "Janji Bersih" gathering at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 30.

City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said members of the public who recognised any individual in the photographs were asked to come forward to provide the information.

He said they could do so to any police officer, police station or the Royal Malaysian Police hotline at 03-20319999 or KL Police's Hotline at 03-21159999.

"They can also directly contact ASP Azmi Abd Azizi at 019-2602344," he said.

Several participants of the gathering were seen trampling on pictures of national leaders, bringing a new flag to replace the Malaysian flag and showing their buttocks in public.

There is even a police hotline for it!!!!!!

Can you believe it, ladies and gentlemen, when Malaysian children were kidnapped and murdered, there were no hotlines. But for those who show disdain for a nefarious government, a dedicated hotline!!

What a brilliant government.

The same government that has the loyal support of this bunch below:

Yes, just in case you have any doubt whatsoever, they are peeing on the image of the opposition leaders.

But hey, since those leaders belong to the wrong party, no action shall be taken against them, no hotline dedicated for people to snitch on them and get them arrested.

Ah well. Malaysia boleh.

I am posting this picture in my blog because when I was young, my parents always told me that Malaysia is a morally upright country, far more than the evil west.

I just want to tell them that they don't have to go abroad to see people of low morals.

Strange Happenings In "Post-Independence Malaya"

Firstly, the national laureate A. Samad Said is being investigated for reading poetry at a public place.

Never would one have thought that poetry recital would be a criminal offence, but hey -- Malaysia Boleh.

Secondly, a Barking Magpie claims that the "Kaum Chauvinis Pendatang Cina Makin Berani Hingga Memijak Gambar Perdana Menteri kita....Bangun!"

Guess who is trying to incite violence.

That might be a bit of a task though, as the number of Malaysians needing emotional crutches and wheelchairs and other UMNO handouts have decreased. The average Malay is beginning to think for himself.

Speaking of which, I saw the videoclip showing the demonstrators stepping on the picture of the Prime Minister. Some of them were clearly Malay.

Not that it matters whether they were "chauvinistic Chinese immigrants" or anything else for that matter. They are all angry Malaysians.

We did not elect the Prime Minister nor his government, for that matter. UMNO forced themselves upon us by illegal means: cheating and deception.

And you wonder why we have so little regard for them.

Orwellian

It was a good friend from Australia who pointed out this article in the Malaysian Insider: Facebook, Twitter foster national security threats, say police

You really should read the whole article, but I shall reproduce an excerpt here to give you a flavour of what is being preached to the masses:

Internal security and public order director Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid said the Internet posed a challenge to the police as it allowed people “to know what was going on in and outside the country”.

This would encourage those who have been “influenced by liberal thinking” to replicate locally what was happening in other countries, Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying today.

This is positively Orwellian. You would think it is something new and original but George Orwell described it in his book 1984 very succinctly.

To summarise, it is the policy of control by propaganda, surveillance, misinformation, denial of truth, and manipulation of the past.

The question is, why do people not grow alarmed at how blatantly those in power are trying to control us?

Here's why. Read this bit from the UK's Daily Mail about the Malaysian student in the Tottenham Riots.

And he was also critical of the police. ‘The police in Malaysia would have taken action sooner,’ he said.

‘Your police let it grow and grow until it was out of control. I don’t understand why people were allowed to run riot and rob in that way.

'Here in Malaysia the police can catch you and grab you if you do something wrong. But in Britain it seems that you cannot.’

Malaysia’s government is known for being authoritarian, but Mr Rossli said: ‘After this happened, people asked Ashraf why he went outside when there were riots and he replied, “Because in Malaysia we are always free to walk outside”.

'We have a tough government in Malaysia, but when something like this happens, they take action. They don’t let it get out of control. The streets are safe.’

You and I know that this is a load of hogwash. Pure rubbish. Unadulterated garbage. Utter crap. Pristine bullsh!t.

In Malaysia, we aren't always free to walk outside. We can get beaten quite severely by the police.

Ask peaceful candlelight vigil participants that have been rushed by the police and arrested.

Evidently, the police CAN catch and grab you even if you DON'T do anything wrong. The streets are NOT safe, thanks to the police.

And when an event like ABU (Anything But UMNO) takes place and gangsters try to wreak havoc and intimidate innocent civillians, the police are nowhere to be found. Ask anyone who has been for the ABU event in Klang.

But not everyone knows, because not everyone WANTS to know the sordid truth about the Malaysian government.

Ignorance isn't always bliss.

Certainly not when it becomes so easy to spot the government as a fascist regime.

The Internet did not kill Kugan or Aminulrasyid

The cops are whining about their image being tarnished - by the internet, of all things.

Do they really think that people are so stupid to overlook their grave incompetence and bias?

- putting up roadblocks during almost every demonstration. The police are responsible for the bad traffic, not the protestors.

- allowing UMNO-friendly demonstrations but arresting anti-government protestors.

- killing detainees under their custody.

- shooting unarmed boys and pregnant women.

- investigating Opposition politicians for what they do in their private lives.

- being unable to solve crimes involving kidnapped and murdered children.

The list is endless.

Smooth Criminals

I was casually browsing through the news when I saw this:

Malaysia 'smooth criminals' walk off with diamonds

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian police said Sunday they were investigating how "smooth criminals" walked off with over 3.0 million ringgit ($1.0 million) worth of diamond jewellery from a gem exhibition.

District police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed told AFP that officers were probing the heist, which took place at the exhibition stand of famous local jeweller Habib at a suburban mall on Friday night.

"We have obtained the CCTV footage from the scene and have also taken statements," he said, declining to give further details as the investigation is ongoing.

It is evident that the crime rate in this country is extremely high.

If only the police spent more time solving these crimes than arresting peaceful protesters on the streets.

Really, it would be far more productive and beneficial.

CSI NY, LV And Miami, You Can Take A Hike Now

There is nothing the Malaysian police can't do!! They can solve any mystery, any crime, any puzzle that besieges the Malaysian public.

They are awesome crime scene investigators, dammit!!!

That is especially if it involves s0domy or s3x, which is their prime area of expertise.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have sufficient evidence to identify the man in the s3x video implicating an opposition leader, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said Thursday.

He added that investigations into the video were expected to be completed next week.

"We are now ascertaining, who is the owner of the (Omega) watch handed to the police," he told reporters here.

I mean, seriously - who cares if Mongolian models get blown up, children get kidnapped and murdered, or houses get burgled and ransacked??

That's not important at all. Why should those be investigated and solved?

What's really important is that we, the Malaysian public, get to find out who stars in dodgy videos.

Aren't you proud of our police now?

Law Of The Jungle

I really haven't a clue what the object of all that anger did.

But what is so wrong is that the police merely stand by and watch him get beaten bloody.

There is no more law and order in this country.

Why We Have Regressed

I'm not going to say much today.

I would just like to point you to an excellent post that echoes my sentiments exactly:

IGP - ‘Thou shalt not question me’

It's no secret that our nation has greatly regressed and deteriorated. In that post, you will find one of the major reasons why.

What Do Our Police Do?

It's not like we have a shortage of police personnel in Malaysia.

Because of late, we have been running into a whole bunch of them making a nuisance of themselves on our roads under the pretext of public safety.

We do have enough people in the force. The problem is, they're either bumbling incompetents or not being deployed for the right roles and functions.

All this while, I thought the role of the government was to protect its citizens and bring the criminals to justice. Yes, I'm an unapologetic idealist.

But I was wrong. Our government protects its criminals and abuses its citizens.

How long has it been since an innocent little 9 year old was kidnapped and brutally abused before being murdered?? Ladies and gentlemen, I know you may find this hard to believe, but it's almost been a year since Nurin Jazlin's body was found.

Sharlinie has been missing for 6 months.

Has there been any progress? Have we come closer to solving the mystery?

Why are the police out in the streets, harrassing the citizens when they should be looking for criminals?

I really want to know.

Tragic Incompetence Of The Police

For some reason I still keep thinking of Nurin Jazlin.

Her story sounds like all those gruesome tales of crime I've seen on CSI, Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Minds. Except that it really did happen.

A few days back, a friend and I got onto the subject of Nurin and her heartbreaking death. I still have his SMS:

.. Very sad that there are such monsters in our midst who are able to do such things. But as bad is the incompetence of the police that the person has still not been caught. Just sad... :(

Ah yes. The police. What can I say about them?

It is evident that the police much prefer to start scuffles, hurl tear-gas cannisters and spray chemical-laced water on peaceful demonstrators than get necessary investigations done in pursuit of justice.

While the Nurin Jazlin case may have been complicated, there have been clues falling right into the laps of the police, which were promptly brushed off. I posted about the priorities of our government and consequently the police in What Are Their Priorities? last Sunday.

An anonymous commenter left an opinion on how the case could have been handled better by the police.

I checked out Anon's claims and they were indeed true, based on reports from The Star and the accompanying footage of the CCTV.

Federal CID Director Comm Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee, who made the recordings public yesterday, said: “The image of the man leaving the sports bag was captured at about 1pm on Sept 16.”

The two-minute footage, captured on a web-camera CCTV system, shows the man in a long-sleeved T-shirt parking his Modenas Kriss motorcycle in front of the Jalan PJS 1/48 Petaling Utama three-storey shoplot, removing his crash helmet and making a call on his handphone.

He is also seen walking towards the shop after the phone call, wearing his helmet and lifting the sports bag that was placed between the motorcycle seat and front basket.

The man then coolly carries the bag towards the building before returning to his motorcycle without the bag and speeding away from the scene.

That phone call was the biggest clue which could have helped crack the case. According to Anon:

Since the video had a time stamp, the exact time of the call was known. Similarly, the exact location, i.e. the "cell", from where the call originated was known.

Technically, mobile phones automatically register and deregister with operator equipment as they are being moved through different cells (which is why we sometimes experience dropped calls when we use the mobile phone in a car and the "handshake" in a new cell we are entering does not properly work).

Mobile phone operators do therefore have sufficient information to determine which of their customers (or more precisely, which of their customers' mobile phones) are in which cell at any given time. This information and the related ability to trace peoples' movements by mapping the registration/deregistration of specific handphones through different cells has in the past few years been successfully used by law enforcement authorities to nab criminals in various other countries (amongst others in Singapore where a group of criminals robbed and killed a money changer and then continued to use the victim's mobile phone).

Similarly, even though this may have required a bit more effort, mobile phone operators would have been able to identify from their usage databases and records which mobile number was used to make a specific call originating from a specific cell at a specific time, particularly if such call was made during off-peak hours at around 2 am in the morning.

Therefore, what the police should have done in Nurin's case was to immediately seek the full cooperation of the 3 mobile phone operators in Malaysia (Celcom, Maxis and DiGi) and to secure the device registration/usage records for the time slot and cell in question. Instead precious time was wasted trying to improve the quality of the video with the help of the FBI in the hope to eventually identify the face of the person in the video and some number plates of vehicles that were caught by the security camera as they were passing by.

As it transpired, by the time that the police finally tried to obtain the necessary usage data from the mobile phone operators it had already been deleted or overwritten with newer data.

Such tragic incompetence. They came SO close to finding Nurin's killer and they just let that golden opportunity pass them by.

I doubt the person making the call on the phone would have been the killer, but under pressure he could have been "persuaded" to divulge the identity of the person worthy of being castrated and fed to the dogs.

Do we have a bunch of blithering idiots on our police force?

I'm beginning to think so. Starting with not acting quickly enough from the time Nurin Jazlin's parents made the missing persons report to thoughtlessly distributing or circulating pictures of her autopsy, the actions of the police fills me with revulsion.

This post is not simply to expose the weaknesses of our police force. It is to remind us that we need to hold our public servants accountable for the service they are expected to render - not brown-nosing politicians but doing their job effectively and with integrity.

Some may say the past is past, bringing this up will not bring Nurin back.

It won't. But God forbid that the killer strike again and the police remain impotent.
